Treetops Aberdare

Treetops Lodge is located in Aberdare National Park, this world-renowned rustic.

Originally built in 1932 for game viewing is famous as the place where the then-Princess Elizabeth ascended to the British Throne. The father King George VI died on 5th Feb 1952 the night she spent at Treetops while on honeymoon.

Treetops lie in an ancient Elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Ranges and Mt Kenya National Park and is strategically sited right in front of a natural watering hole and salt lick. Guests can drink in the sight of Elephants, Buffalos, Rhinos and more from all areas including the view deck on top floor of the building.

  • The tour includes, Karuru Falls, the most precipitous falls in Kenya, which cascades 300 m into an impenetrable ravine and spectacularly falls in three steps as well as Chania falls, Magura Falls and Queens Cave.
  • This is one of the few remaining habitats of the elusive rare Bongo Antelope and the rare giant Forest Hog. The estimated 2000 Elephants roam the clouded hills and misty glades.
  • Other animal species found are Black Rhino, Cape buffalo, monkey – Colobus, Sykes and Black faced Velvets, Leopard, Serval cat and spotted Hyena.
  • Above 2000m is Fly Fishing area where both brown and rainbow trout are found in many cool mountain streams.
