Picnic on Lolokwi Mountain - 3000ft Cliff

Experience a wonderful flight of great loveliness as you follow the gentle meanders and shining waters of the river and watch the wild animals seduced from the arid and harsh plains for a drink.

The area is home to a variety of wildlife species only found north of the Equator; including the endangered Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich. Herds of elephant bathe on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. The landscape features dry river beds and boulders rising out of thorn scrub. In the dramatic background is the panorama of distant hills and the Samburu tribe’s sacred red table mountain.

Soar with the winds high above the swifts and vultures to land on the top of this sheer rock-face discover, explore and experience the arid terrains 3000 feet below. Below you spot the Verreaux’s Eagles as you enjoy your picnic lunch surrounded by green trees and ancient cycads. The magnificence of the Ol Lolokwi’s vertical façade marks its out as the mountain to the Samburu people.
