Lake Bogoria is found in Lake Bogoria National Reserve Kenya North of Nakuru, the lake is the heart of an arid landscape, in the shadow of the dramatic walls of the Siracho Range. Until recently this lake was known as Lake Hannington. Lake Bogoria has no outlet and the intense evaporation has led to high levels of salt and minerals.
Like other Kenyan Rift Valley soda lakes such as Lake Nakuru, Lake Elementeita, and Lake Magadi, Lake Bogoria has no fish but is rich in blue-green algae, as a result it attracts one of the largest populations of lesser flamingos. Famous for its geysers and hot springs, the sulphur waters gushing out of the ground is known to have therapeutic values, hence are natural spas and steam baths.
Lake Bogoria has been a National Reserve since 1973 and was designated a Ramsar site in 2001. This means it is an internationally important wetland area, supporting many regionally and nationally endangered species, including the migratory lesser flamingo, the greater flamingo and the black-necked grebe. Up to two million birds can be found there at any one time, many living in the reserve for months at a time.

- Lake Bogoria contains the highest concentration of true geysers in Africa.
- The Loburu hot springs erupt along the lakeside and are a captivating but also they are dangerous. Due to the extreme temperatures of these boiling springs you need to be careful especially when near them.
